Dan Abreu
Saxophone
Dan Abreu started playing music at a young age earning seats in the Massachusetts District and All State groups then attending the youth music program at the New England Conservatory where he was a member of the Mass Youth Wind Ensemble that toured Finland and western Soviet Union. He continued his classical and jazz studies at UMass and began freelancing in the Boston area where he earned a reputation as a session and live saxophonist. Dan continued his advanced studies in improvisation and composition with Charlie Banacos and George Garzone.
Dan has performed with many local groups including Michigan Blacksnake, Two Bones & a Pick, The Freelance Bishops, Jen Kearney, Ryan Montbleau, and toured the east coast with New Soul Nation. These days you’ll find Dan in clubs, theaters and festivals throughout New England with Los Sugar Kings. Dan has also had the honor of performing on stage with greats like Parliament Funkadelic and Stevie Wonder.
